About Me
My name is Niveditta Mittal. I am a Registered Therapeutic Counsellor who supports individuals through life transitions, emotional challenges, and recovery.
I come to this work not only through professional training but also through lived experience. I spent nearly twenty years struggling with addiction. That journey taught me deeply about where people often feel stuck and what steps can help move life forward. It also showed me how family expectations and social pressures can shape who we become while growing up.
I have transitioned through several careers in my life — from working as a designer and visual effects (VFX) artist to becoming a professional counsellor. This transition happened as I recovered from addiction and began to understand the importance of acceptance, compassion, and empathetic listening. My own journey of recovery and personal growth inspired me to pursue counselling so that I could help others navigate struggles that can often feel overwhelming and isolating.
My counselling approach is primarily person-centred. I believe that every individual has the capacity for growth and healing when they are provided with a safe, respectful, and supportive space.
My work integrates several therapeutic approaches, including trauma-informed care, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Rogerian therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), strengths-based counselling, motivational skills, and goal setting. By combining these approaches, I support clients in developing practical life skills, emotional resilience, and greater self-understanding.

I work with individuals experiencing anxiety, addiction and recovery challenges, grief and loss, life transitions, emotional overwhelm, and self-esteem difficulties. My goal is to offer a compassionate and supportive space where clients feel respected, understood, and supported as they move toward healing and personal growth.
One of my strengths as a counsellor is my understanding of diverse cultures and life experiences. Having lived and worked in diverse communities, I value cultural sensitivity and inclusivity. I am able to support clients in English, Hindi, and Punjabi, which allows me to connect with individuals from a wide range of cultural backgrounds.
“At the heart of my work is a simple belief: no one should have to face their struggles alone. Counselling can be a powerful step toward clarity, resilience, and a more balanced life.”

What Guides My Practice
Compassion First
Every person who walks through the door — whether virtually or in person — deserves to be met with empathy and warmth. I do not push, I do not judge, and I never rush. Therapy moves at your pace.
Confidential & Safe
A confidential, non-judgmental environment is the foundation of any meaningful therapeutic relationship. What you share in our sessions stays in our sessions, within the boundaries required by professional ethics.
Cultural Inclusivity
Lived experience across cultures and languages means I bring genuine sensitivity to diverse communities. I offer sessions in English, Hindi, and Punjabi to make counselling accessible to more people.
Your Empowerment
I help you discover strengths you already carry and build practical skills you can use in daily life. The goal is not dependence on therapy — it is equipping you to navigate life with growing confidence.
My Personal Values & Beliefs
“Healing is not linear, and every person moves at their own pace.”
I believe progress is personal. There is no timeline you must meet — only the one that is right for you.
“Lived experience is a form of expertise.”
My own journey through addiction and recovery gave me an understanding that textbooks alone cannot provide.
“Community and connection are essential to wellbeing.”
No one heals in isolation. I believe in the power of being truly heard by another human being.
“Asking for help is a sign of strength, not weakness.”
Reaching out takes courage. I honour that courage in every single client who contacts me.
